Salini Impregilo takes home a deal worth almost half a billion dollars in the United States and the title goes back to Piazza Affari. Through its Lane subsidiary, the group has signed two $460 million highway contracts in North Carolina. The company thus continues its expansion plan in the USA, the most important market for Salini Impregilo's turnover.

According to the company's press release, the first contract - valued at $260 million - involves construction of the I-77/I-40 Interchange improvement works in Iredell County. In particular, the assignment is to widen the road structure from 4 to 8 lanes for approximately 7,4 miles (11,91 kilometers). Works will also be required to connect the road system with a partial 'turbine' intersection. The works should start in the spring of 2019 and be completed by the end of 2022.

The second contract$403 million in total to extend the Triangle Expressway from US 401 to I-40 in Wake and Johnston counties as part of the Complete 540 project to improve the highway system in Raleigh, the state capital . Lane participates with a 50% stake in a joint-venture with Blythe Construction, a subsidiary of Eurovia, of the French company Vinci, for a value of just over 200 million dollars.

Mid morning the stock on the stock exchange of Salini Impregilo travels up by 0,6%, to 1,741 euros. On average over the last month, shares dropped 12,2%. The data for six months (-19,99%) and for the year (-45,25%) are even worse.
