Salini Impregilo: maxi-order in NY, the share goes up

Salini Impregilo, through its subsidiary Lane Construction Corporation, was awarded a contract by 232 million dollars for the replacement ofUnionport Bridge in Bronx County, a New York. The work will be carried out in joint venture with Schiavone Construction Company.

In the wake of the news, Wednesday morning the stock on the stock exchange of Salini Impregilo gains 2,6%, to 3,07 euros.

The project, the first obtained by Lane in the New York area, involves the replacement of the swing bridge that allows the Bruckner Expressway to cross Westchester Creek. The new bridge will be built in 10 phases and will require four years of construction, which should start in late 2017 and be completed by mid-2021.

The real challenge – say Salini Impregilo – will consist in keeping the Expressway and the navigable canal open during the works, building two temporary bridges and positioning the last cantilever span in the open position.

The Unionport Bridge is crossed by 50 to 60 vehicles each day along the Bruckner Expressway Service Road above Westchester Creek in the Bronx.
