An agreement has been signed with the government of Papua New Guinea to jointly build a 1800 MW hydroelectric project.

The government of the Papua Nuova Guinea e Salini Impregilo have signed an agreement to jointly build a 1800 MW hydroelectric project, for a investment of more than two billion dollars. The Italian general contractor communicated this this morning.

The government of the second largest country in Oceania has decided to stimulate economic growth by improving the generation, transmission, distribution and retail sale of electricity throughout the country, to better reach commercial enterprises, industries, urban centers and families.

The project at the heart of the agreement with Salini-Impregilo it includes the construction of the Karamui dam in Simbu province and has been identified as a priority in infrastructure development.

Salini-Impregilo is already involved in the North West Rail Link project in Oceania for the construction of the new Sydney metro line, the largest public transport infrastructure project currently underway in Australia and the largest in Sydney since the construction of the Harbor Bridge, which took 100 years ago.
