Guide to safe purchasing during sales
Here are the rules fundamental for clear and safe purchases provided by Italian Fashion Federation-Confcommercio:
- You change: the possibility of changing the item after it has been purchased is generally left to the discretion of the shopkeeper, unless the product is damaged or non-compliant (Legislative Decree 6 September 2005, n. 206, Consumer Code). In this case, the retailer is obliged to repair or replace the item and, if this proves impossible, to reduce or refund the price paid. However, the buyer is required to report the defect of the garment within two months from the date of discovery of the defect.
- Try on garments: there is no obligation. It is at the discretion of the shopkeeper.
- Secure: Credit cards must be accepted by the merchant and cashless payments should be encouraged.
- Products for sale: Sale items must be seasonal or fashionable in nature and be susceptible to significant depreciation if not sold within a certain period of time.
- Price indication: the shopkeeper is required to indicate the normal selling price, the discount applied and the final price.
Please remember that products on sale must be offered at the price in force for the last 30 days. The fines ofAntitrust for unfair commercial practices they doubled from 5 to 10 million euros.
