Saipem wins contracts worth over one billion euros between the Middle East and North Africa

In Morocco, Saipem has been awarded an EPC contract by Tangier Mediterranean special agency for the expansion of the port of Tangier.

Saipem has been awarded contracts worth around 1 billion euros in the Middle East and North Africa. The Eni company, in Abu Dhabi, has acquired, on behalf of Etihad Rail Company, a contract for the design and construction of the railway line that will connect the gas production areas of Shah and Habshan, located inside the country , with the port of Ruwais. At the end of the works, a single and double track railway line will be ready for more than 260 kilometres. The line will make it possible to transport more than 7 million tons of sulfur a year, coming from the production of hydrocarbons. The facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.

In Morocco, Saipem has been awarded an EPC contract by Tangier Mediterranean special agency for the expansion of the port of Tangier. The project involves the construction of two breakwaters and 2.800 meters of new docks, for a total area of ​​132 hectares reclaimed from the sea. The company also negotiated several scope of work increases on existing onshore contracts in Latin America, West Africa and Australia.
