Saipem: new contract in Saudi Arabia
Just three days after the announcement of the $4 billion contract secured in Qatar, the company has announced that it has obtained a new offshore contract worth about 2 billion of dollars, this time in Saudi Arabia, within the framework of a Long-term agreement with Saudi Aramco. The project – Saipem underlines in a note – concerns the development of the Marjan deposit.
The contract was awarded to the Italian giant after a competitive bidding process and after meeting the required preliminary conditions. “Saipem’s activities include engineering, procurement, construction and installation of wellhead platform topsides and jackets, tie-in platform jackets and topsides, rigid flowlines, composite submarine cables and fiber optic cables,” the press release explains.
To carry out the operations Saipem will use its own Offshore Fleet, consisting of new-generation vessels, equipped with dynamic positioning systems, as well as exploiting advanced welding technologies.
“The contract consolidates Saipem's presence in Saudi Arabia, adding to other recent orders obtained by Saudi Aramco“, Saipem underlines.
