Safilo: agreement with Essilor to relaunch Polaroid

Safilo has reached a ten-year licensing agreement with Essilor, a French multinational active in the ophthalmic lenses sector. The partnership provides that Essilor manufactures and distributes Polaroid-branded polarized lenses, whose eyewear division has been controlled by Safilo since 2011.

Following the news of the agreement, Safilo's share accelerated on the Stock Exchange in the morning, gaining 1,66%, to 14,12 euros per share. Analysts, above all those of Banca Akros and Banca Imi, have promoted the decision of the Italian company, seeing positive impacts on the financial statements in terms of royalties.

Satisfied Roberto Vedovotto, managing director of the company based in Padua: "We are very proud to start this long-term partnership with Essilor".

The agreement, continues Vedovotto, “represents an extraordinary opportunity for Polaroid not only to confirm its credibility and value as a reference brand in vision protection and improvement, but also to extend its application in vision correction”.
