UniCredit has structured a complex financing transaction worth 30 million in support of the Brescia-based company, capable of doubling its production of metallic silicon and thus increasing its competitiveness.

UniCredit has structured a complex financing transaction in favor of the Metalleghe Group for the construction of a new silicon metal production plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a total investment of over 30 million euros to be made in two years which will allow the Brescia-based company to double the production of metallic silicon, an alloy used in the aluminum and silicone sector. Metalleghe is a leading player in Europe in the production of carbon-based refuels, in the production of ferroalloy briquettes for cast iron foundries and in the marketing of ferroalloys. It has started production activities in Bosnia Herzegovina since 2004 and with this new investment, reaching 300 jobs and increasing the current production, it is positioned among the first producers of silicon metal in Europe.

The operation, structured and coordinated by the Brescia territorial area of ​​UniCredit, with the support of the Brescia office of SACE, provides: financial support articulated in a credit line in Italyguaranteed by SACE and the issue of Stand by Letter of Credit in favor of the main contractor who will build the new furnaces; funding in Bosnia, carried out through a leasing operation which involved both the Italian structure of UniCredit Leasing and UniCredit Leasing Bosnia of Sarajevo. The plant in question will be manufactured by Tenova (Techint Group), a global supplier of advanced technologies, products and engineering services to the iron and steel and mining industries.
