SACE, guarantee of 230 million dollars for the Danieli Group

It was inaugurated today in Dnepropetrovsk in Ukraine, in the presence of the Ukrainian President Victor Yanukoich, the CEO of Danieli, Giampietro Benedetti and the CEO of SACE, Andrea Castellano, the largest steel plant in Eastern Europe. The construction of the plant, owned by the Interpipe group and costing around 700 million dollars, was entrusted to the Danieli Group from Friuli. SACE intervened by approving a guarantee for one third of the total value of the plant, or 230 million dollars.

The Danieli Group "designs, builds and installs machines and plants, for the metal industry, with technologies and products that cover the entire production cycle from ore to finished iron and steel products, in a wide range, with a turnover of the last year equal to approximately € 3 billion”. The Friuli-based group is among the top three worldwide manufacturers of plants and machines for the iron and steel industry, with leadership in steel mills and plants for the production of long products and is among the top two for the construction of plants for the production of flat products .

The Interpipe plant is the largest private investment made in Ukraine, and thanks to the combination of innovative technologies for steel casting imported by Danieli, it represents an example of excellence placing itself at the forefront of the iron and steel sector.

Thanks to this plant, Interpipe will become the first steel producer in Eastern Europe with approximately 1.320 tons produced annually. The new equipment and the use of green technologies will allow Interpipe to reduce energy consumption and gas emissions by less by half; in addition, natural gas consumption will be cut by 60 million cubic metres. The plant will also create 700 new skilled jobs.

According to the words of the founder Victor Pinchuk, Interpipe Steel is the emblem of a Ukrainian renaissance that starts from industrial innovation to give new impetus to the social and cultural development of the country. The artistic project by Olafur Eliasson, "Dnepropetrovsk Sunrise, presented today during the inauguration, goes in this direction: five large-scale installations integrated into the iron and steel complex, with the aim of creating a new work space and belonging for the new generations of engineers, specialists and workers of the Ukrainian metallurgical industry. A space also open to guided tours where guests can familiarize themselves with the innovative technologies of steel casting and enjoy the masterpieces of contemporary art.
