A pool of banking institutions, made up of Crédit Agricole Italy, UniCredit SpA, Banco BPM SpA e Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), assisted by SACE guarantee, dispensed a financing of 29,5 million euros a Cosulich brothers is preferably used for construction of a gas tanker. In addition to these resources, a grant from the European Union has been added, under the Connecting Europe Facility programme which aims to support the development of alternative fuel distribution infrastructure to contribute to the decarbonisation of transport in Europe. In this context, CDP acted as executive partner of the European Commission for Italy, facilitating access to European resources.

Characteristics of the ship and Sace's intervention

Il financing covers the 70% of the total value of the entire operation (approximately 44 million dollars) and will be used by Fratelli Cosulich for the construction of a ship that will be able to carry over 8.200mXNUMX of LNG e 500mc of MGO (marine gasoil), as well as a cargo handling system to be designed and built by Wartsila Gas System. In addition to the conventional boil off management systems (GCU - Gas Combustion Unit), a LNG "subcooling" system will also be installed, which will make it possible to have the most effective Boil Off Gas reduction technologies, with the consequent total elimination of potential environmental impacts, albeit limited, deriving from the use of the GCU.
