The government wants to approve an “emergency decree to refinance layoffs in derogation and, if possible, introduce some initial measures to support youth employment”. This was stated by the Minister of Economy, Fabrizio Saccomanni, inviting the Chamber to approve the Economic and Financial Document (Def) with unchanged balances.
The new minister added that the imminent exit from the excessive deficit procedure “will allow Italy to negotiate margins of flexibility with the European Union which can be used to promote national and European priority objectives".
The fight against youth unemployment, as Saccomanni explained, could also make use of the "Youth garantee" (an instrument proposed by the European Council which has undertaken to raise 6 billion in seven years at the level of the Union of 27).
