In the third quarter the Italian economy stabilized and in the fourth quarter it started to grow again. This is what Economy Minister Fabrizio Saccomanni claimed during a debate in Davos.
The minister added that, according to government forecasts, the Italian economy should grow by about 1% in 2014, even if the estimates of the European Union and the Bank of Italy are lower. “Differences in growth hypotheses – explained Saccomanni – justified by different econometric models”. The EU and the Bank of Italy do not fully consider some measures such as the payment of arrears by the public administration and other incentives.
"Looking at the last seven months, the Government has achieved the three objectives it set itself in May, namely relaunching the economy, remaining within the European directives on the budget, opening the chapter of institutional and economic reforms" indicated Saccomanni.
