Ryanair makes peace with the Italian pilots: there is an agreement

The long-awaited agreement has arrived. After years of controversy and clashes Ryanair signs the formal recognition agreement of the pilots union in Italy. An important step forward towards equal pay and employment required throughout Europe.

The Irish company, moreover, had promised it following the harsh protests of the pilots which caused many problems for the company last autumn.

Based on what was communicated by Anpac, through a note, "On the evening of 7 March 2018, the first formal agreement for the recognition of the Irish company's pilot representation was signed between Ryanair's Chief of Staff, Eddie Wilson, and Anpac based in Italy. The formalization of the agreement is the culmination of a journey that began many years ago and culminated last December with the historic decision by Ryanair's management team to open to dialogue with trade unions throughout Europe”.

The agreement, continues Anpac, represents a “historic turning point for Ryanair pilots in Italy“. "It is proof - explains the union - that with a constructive and proactive approach, both from the union and from the company side, it is possible to build from scratch in a relatively short time an effective system of trade union/industrial relations based on mutual respect".

The Irish company was also satisfied, according to which: "'We are making good progress with the unions in other important EU countries and we hope to sign further recognition agreements with pilots and cabin crew unions in the coming weeks and months." So Eddie Wilson, Ryanair's chief of staff.
