Ryanair, EasyJet, Vueling: the Antitrust investigates canceled flights

THEAntitrust opened an investigation into the airlines Ryanair, EasyJet, Vueling e Blue Panorama. The reason? The same one that two months ago had led to the opening of investigations on Alitalia and Volotea.

The problem concerns plane tickets for a series of flights which were later cancelled, despite being scheduled in periods in which the restrictions on circulation due to Covid were no longer in force.

In these cases, European regulation in hand, the airlines should have recognized customers the right to choose between a financial refund e a voucher, but they didn't. Consumers received the voucher directly, thus being denied the possibility of recovering the money.

The airlines, of course, also failed to inform consumers of their rights in the event of flight cancellations.

Furthermore, "Blue Panorama, Easyjet, Ryanair and Vueling are also accused of having set up an expensive and deficient assistance service - reads the Antitrust note - both in relation to waiting times and the contact methods made available to passengers, forced to use exclusively a premium-rate telephone number, difficult to reach".
