Ryanair, profit grows despite the inconveniences

The British company maintains its estimates for 2017-2018 with a profit between 1,4 and 1,45 billion euros. Passenger traffic on the rise, ticket prices down by 5%.

Positive first half for Ryanair, despite the chaos created by the cancellations of hundreds of flights in recent weeks. In the first six months of the year, the low-cost airline made a profit of 1,293 billion euros, up 11%.

The result is driven by lower fuel costs and an 11% increase in traffic to 72,1 million passengers over the Easter holiday period. The company then implemented a policy of reducing ticket prices by 5%.

"These solid first half results reinforce Ryanair's low cost and growth model, despite a period marred by operational issues related to the pilot holiday programme," commented CEO Michael O'Leary. Despite the cancellation of thousands of flights, from September to next March, Ryanair maintains its estimates for 2017-2018 with profit between 1,4 and 1,45 billion euros.
