Ryanair: 37 new routes from Italy, here's what they are

Ryanair is increasingly focusing on the Italian market. The Irish airline has in fact decided to increase the routes departing from Italy starting from next winter. They will be in everything 37 new destinations that can be reached from our country, both within the national territory and abroad.

Based on the numbers provided by the company, the implementation will allow for carrying a total of 39 million passengers a year in 29 Italian airports, with a growth of 5%.

It should be underlined that already from the summer of 2018 two new routes will be available which will depart from Crotone airport with destination Milan Bergamo (Orio al Serio) and Pisa.

“We are delighted to launch the biggest programming ever from Italy for winter 2018/2019, with 37 new routes and more flights on 18 existing routes, which will make it possible to transport 39 million passengers in 29 Italian airports with a growth of 5%. Italian customers and visitors can now book their holidays for the 2018/2019 winter season, with even lower fares,” Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary announced today, February 28, during a press conference. .

Ma what will these 37 new routes be?

  • from Bologna you can reach: Amman, Kaunas, Alicante, Manchester and Porto;
  • from Pisa connections to: Prague and Gdansk;

Speaking of Trapani, Ryanair's CEO confirmed the closure of the base for at least another year: “We will not reopen the base this summer. We await a new call for tenders and will participate in it. Then based on the outcome, we can reactivate the routes and we can optimistically to the summer of 2019".

Finally, regarding baggage restrictions to take on board entered into force a few months ago and subject to investigation by the Antitrust, O'Leary declared that the Authority "focuses a little too much on us with 11 investigations in 8 years" while "there are other things they should look at and not this, which it's a matter of company policy." "If ENAC had endorsed it, I don't understand why others don't do it".
