Rovellini leaves Mps and becomes risk manager of Banco Bpm

Andrea Rovellini moves from Monte dei Paschi to Bank Bpm. The former CFO and deputy director of MPS, right-hand man of the outgoing CEO Marco Morelli, has resigned from MPS with effect from 15 July. This was communicated by a note from the Sienese bank in which it "thanks Rovellini for the important contribution provided and wishes him the best professional successes". Speaking of the reasons behind the choice, Mps limited itself to referring to the manager's willingness to undertake “new professional opportunities. Confirmation came a few hours later.

Rovellini, who according to rumors in recent weeks would also have been in the running for the role of managing director of MPS in the event the government had opted for an appointment within the Sienese bank (but was then chosen as Ad Bastinaini, former carige in quopta Cinque Stelle), is the new risk manager of Bank Bpm. The appointment came during today's board meeting of the bank.

Rovellini's can be considered a "return home". After starting his career in the Barilla Group, the manager held various positions of responsibility in Banca Popolare di Milano and subsequently within the Bpm Group. In 2012 he then joined Monte dei Paschi, first assuming the position of Chief Risk Officer and then those of Chief Financial Officer (from 2018) and Deputy General Manager (from 2019).

In the meantime, in Piazza Affari, both banks are starting to end the session with sharp gains, in line with the sector index which at 16.00 pm gained 2,7%. In detail, the Banco Bpm share rises by 2,68% to 1,09 euro, while the Monte dei Paschi shares mark an increase of 1,96% to 1,04 euro.
