Rosatellum-Bankitalia, hot week

Very hot days for the Government which has to face the double knot of the electoral law in the Senate and the controversial appointment of the Governor of the Bank of Italy

Hot week for the Gentiloni government which, in the aftermath of the referendum on regional autonomy in Veneto and Lombardy, has to face double the electoral law in the Senate and the highly controversial appointment of the Governor of the Bank of Italy.

On the Rosatellum, the new electoral law a little more majority than the Consultellum and supported by Pd, Forza Italia, Lega and Ap, restarts its journey in the Senate and Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni must decide whether to resort to a vote of confidence or not. The secretary of the Democratic Party, Matteo Renzi, said yesterday that it is unthinkable to amend it (as President Emeritus Giorgio Napolitano and above all Mdp would like, which makes changes to the text a condition for resuming dialogue with the Democratic Party) because this would mean returning to the Chamber and question its final approval.

On Tuesday, the electoral law lands in the hall of Palazzo Madama, after the four parties that support it have armored it in the Constitutional Affairs Commission causing protests from the Mdp and the Italian Left who have abandoned the works.

But no less difficult for Gentiloni is the appointment of the Governor of the Bank of Italy after the barrage opened by the Democratic Party against the confirmation of Ignazio Visco, which expires on October 31 and which is instead supported by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. Gentiloni is between two fires and games are more open than ever.
