Rome, yes to the stadium: Berdini resigns

"Irrevocable" resignation of councilor Berdini while the Giunta Raggi moves towards the green light for the new Roma stadium despite the stomachaches of the grillina base

Rome, yes to the stadium: Berdini resigns

The yes to the new stadium of Rome is getting closer. Yesterday in the Campidoglio a (perhaps) decisive meeting was staged for the fate of the project, which provides for an important urban intervention in the Tor di Valle area. The club has presented "a revision of the project that has highly innovative characteristics," said the deputy mayor of Bergamo.

The original project of the Giallorossi company envisages the construction in Tor di Valle of a stadium with a maximum capacity of 60 spectators, the new sports center for the first team, three towers up to about 200 meters high (to be used as offices and a hotel), a commercial area of 5 hectares and green areas of 63 hectares. The changes should concern a reduction in the cubic capacity of the towers, more space for green areas, more attention to water and energy efficiency.

Meanwhile, Rome city planning councilor Paolo Berini, who has always been against the new Tor di Valle facility like the entire Grillina base, presents his irrevocable resignation. And he attacks the 5 Star junta: “We had to bring the city back to full legality and transparency, instead we continue on the path of contracted urban planning, which has caused immense damage to the capital. It was my intention to serve the city by making skills and ideas available. I acknowledge that the conditions to be able to continue my work have no longer existed. While the suburbs sink into endless decay and the housing crisis increases, the only concern seems to be the Roma stadium”.

Mayor Virginia Raggi replies: “That's enough, we have also overlooked the bar gossip, now we acknowledge that the commissioner prefers to continue to argue rather than work. We go forward”.
