On 15 May at 18.30 pm, in what was once the church dedicated to her – today Sala Santa Rita, a splendid Baroque monument ascribed to the planning of Carlo Fontana – the third edition of “An artist for a rose”.

Rome, "An artist for a rose" in the third edition

This third edition will develop over a week culminating in the day of the solemnity dedicated to Santa Rita da Cascia, May 22, to recount the original secular destination with art and artists.

They will be the  students of the Koefia International Academy of Haute Couture and Costume Art to "offer" 22 weaving works inspired by the rose, symbol-attribute of Santa Rita, in a collective installation designed specifically for the exhibition space. Thus, art roses will blossom from the floor of the nave in a sort of carpet handmade by first year students: Caterina Bianchi, Nicole Ciccosanti, Chiara D'ascanio, Destiny Hamilton, Serena Iannone, Alessandra Ingretolli, Lorenzo Renzi, Maria Noel Suarez, Ylenia Tortorici, Pedro Pablo Urbani Natalizia, Licia Rossi, Laura Valladao, Lina Kulper, Zhu Yunzhu, Xugu.

The 22 panels of tulle (each A3 format) strictly hand-embroidered tell the bond and spiritual story that the Parisian artist Yves Klein had with the Saint, to whom he dedicated all his work and entrusted his soul.

A carpet of roses, petals, buds, branches, leaves  of thorns embroidered with gold, carmine and ultramarine threads. Embroidered like a manuscript, you can read the devotional text that the artist wrote in his own hand, in the scroll that he introduced into the plexiglass case together with the pink, IKB blue and gold pigments and that he donated as a votive offering in 1961 to the Monastery of Santa Rita da Cascia, to the Augustinian nuns who only belatedly reported its existence and discovered its importance.

The exhibition is curated by Bianca Cimiotta Lami for the Koefia International Academy of Haute Couture and Costume Art  with the artistic coordination of Maila Ferlisi, it is promoted by the Culture and Tourism Department of Rome and curated by the Culture Department, Cultural Spaces Service in collaboration with the Sylvestro Ganassi Music School, the Italian Touring Club and Zètema Progetto Cultura.
