Rome: Raggi, armed peace with Grillo

The new deputy mayor of Rome is Luca Bergamo, until today councilor for cultural growth of the Raggi junta. He will take the place of the outgoing Daniele Frongia, who has kept the responsibilities for youth policies and sport. Thus the mayor found a sort of compromise with Grillo: yesterday it was said that the leaders of the 5 Star Movement wanted to impose on the deputy mayor's seat Massimo Colomban, current Councilor for Participates very close to Casaleggio Associati, while Virginia Raggi, to avoid the grillino commissioner, at first seemed oriented to nominate another loyalist of hers, Andrea Mazzillo, current Councilor for the Budget.

The Campidoglio communicates in a note that the mayor has confronted her majority, which fully shared the choice: “I thank Luca Bergamo for having accepted the position. We will continue to work together for the change and renewal of our city", commented Raggi.

Pinuccia Montanari, on the other hand, is the new councilor for the environment. His appointment comes after the resignation of former councilor Paola Muraro, under investigation for alleged environmental crimes.

“The theme of the environment and waste management represents one of the priorities of our administration – explains Raggi -. Pinuccia Montanari has extensive experience in the sector and has always brought forward innovative ideas that will help to face the challenges that await us. I'm sure she will be able to restore Ama: the Capitoline company must overcome the difficulties that have prevented its employees from carrying out their work efficiently and citizens from enjoying services worthy of a European capital ”.

For his part, Montanari said that "it is a great honor to accept this challenge to bring Rome, the capital of Italy, towards the dimension of an increasingly Zero Waste city".
