Rome, Rays in the storm: Marra speaks

Raffaele Marra has decided to speak. From the Regina Coeli prison, where he has been imprisoned since last December 16 following the accusation of corruption, the former right-hand man of Virginia Raggi has changed his mind and is ready to tell the investigators his version of what happened on the Capitol, at least until a month and a half ago.

According to rumors, the decision would have been taken on Thursday night, immediately after the mayor's interrogation, during which Raggi would have discharged him a second time, aggravating his judicial position. According to what was reported by Repubblica, the first citizen allegedly accused the former chief of staff of a crime, claiming that her trust was betrayed, induced to mislead, while he abused the power to convey the appointment of her brother, Renato Marra, guaranteeing him that patrimonial advantage (20 thousand euros of annual salary increase) of which she would have been unaware.

Marra should already be questioned during the week. The charges hanging over him are not light: corruption for real estate deals with the builder Scarpellini and abuse of office in the context of the investigation that also involves Raggi for the appointment of Renato Marra at the head of the Tourism department. It will be on that occasion that the deus ex machina of the Capitol will give his version of the facts to the Deputy Prosecutor Paolo Ielo.

The chats between the two protagonists could play a fundamental role: "I think that those chats that have now finally returned to the availability of the defense and that I am examining should be read and considered as a whole - observes the lawyer Scacchi, defender of Marra - because only then it will be possible to answer the question on the role played by Marra in the nomination game and on the degree of awareness of the Mayor who, we now discover, incredibly nothing would have known ". Within those communications there would be, according to the defense, evidence that would demonstrate that Raggi was aware of everything.
