She burst into liberating tears and embraced her lawyers to applause. So the mayor of Rome Virginia Raggi welcomed the sentence that saw her accused in the trial on the appointment of Renato Marra with the accusation of false documents: instead the acquittal by the Court of Rome arrived, because the fact exists but does not constitute a crime.

La Raggi, in a beige trench coat, she had arrived accompanied by her husband Andrea Severini. It is the first time he has accompanied her since the trial began. In the Chamber, in addition to many journalists, some M5s councilors were also present. "This sentence sweeps away two years of mud, let's go forward with our heads held high for my beloved city and my beloved citizens", Virginia Raggi commented on her Twitter profile.

If convicted, the first citizen of the capital would have seriously risked her job. In fact, Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio had excluded on the eve of changes to the M5s code of ethics in relation to the trial: “He has always applied himself in the M5s. I've also heard of what is being said right now, that they are trying to modify the code, but there is no willingness to do any such thing. It's a matter of consistency."

However, Rome's fiery weekend does not end here: on Sunday, citizens are called to express themselves on the Atac referendum proposed by the Radicals. The 5 Star Movement has not given voting indications so the test bench is not one of those that could question Raggi's mandate, but the vote will still give an important political signal.
