Rome, Qatar Airways main sponsor: even the title takes off

Qatar Airways is the new main sponsor of Roma. On the eve of the Champions League semi-final against Liverpool, the Giallorossi score an important result, hoping that it will bode well for tomorrow's match, 24 April.

"The agreement, the largest ever signed by the company and one of the most important achieved by an Italian club, will see the airline's logo printed on the front of the first team shirt until the end of the 2020-21 season", the Capitoline club announced through its official website featuring a photo by Nainggolan, Strootman, De Rossi, Dzeko and Florenzi with the new jersey that will debut in 24 hours.

The agreement will lead to James Pallotta's club, approx 40 million euros in three years, plus bonuses.

The news seems to be much appreciated by the market which rewards the AS Roma title just a few minutes after the announcement. The shares, hit by a shower of sales, soared and closed the day gaining over 7,5% with very high volumes. The wait for tomorrow's semi-final, 24 April, is undoubtedly also giving impetus, a historic achievement for the Giallorossi who will try to play it but also to defeat the ghosts of the past.

On the wings of the Champions League – e of the huge income it brings, also thanks to the elimination of Juve – Roma shares gained 28,63% in one month, while in the last 6 months the increase exceeds 50%.

Returning to the sponsor, Qatar Airways, one of the youngest airlines in the world (it was founded in 1997, ed.) to serve five continents and connect over 150 destinations every day, will be the seventh official shirt sponsor in the club's 90-year history . A big coup for Roma who will be able to count on a leading partnership. Suffice it to say that from 2013 to 2017 Qatar Airways sponsored Barcelona. It should also be emphasized that, according to rumors, Roma would also be close to signing an agreement with Hyundai which will act as back sponsor (the logo may be present on the back of the shirt) for 3,5 million euros a year.

The Giallorossi number one is enthusiastic, James Pallotta: “Today's announcement is the result of a discussion that continued with Qatar Airways for over eight months behind the scenes, thanks to work led by our commercial team in London with the constant support of that in Rome, and comes at a significant time for the history of the Club, on and off the field. With work due to begin on the new stadium by the end of this year and with us reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time in 34 years, our fans are having a particularly exciting time."
