Rome, projections: Raggi out and Michetti-Gualtieri ballot

The most important and also the most uncertain match of these elections is certainly that of Rome, where there were four candidates who could aspire to the second round: the outgoing mayor Virginia Raggi, the candidate of the Pd Roberto Gualtieri, that of the centre-right Enrico Michetti and the independent Carlo Calenda. The first significant data is that of the turnout: clearly below 50%, around 48% according to the Interior Ministry, much less than the 56% of five years ago. According to the projections, the two candidates who are all in all favorites of the eve should go to the ballot, representing the two coalitions: Michetti with over 30% of the preferences and Gualtieri who instead chases around 27% and is pressed by Raggi who in the very first estimates was given below 20%, only to then "reassemble" up to 24% according to the first official but still absolutely partial findings calculated by SWG, while for other opinion poll institutes the outgoing mayor would be below 20%.

In fourth place, but still with a flattering result, Carlo Calenda, even close to 20% depending on the projections: the leader of Azione has certainly stolen a few votes from the Democratic Party, perhaps indicating the way - even at a national level - for a new moderate and reformist front. Still on the Pd front, it should be noted that the secretary Enrico Letta is a candidate in the supplementary elections for a seat in the Chamber of Deputies, and even there the first projections are comforting and favorable for his election. As far as the other big cities are concerned, a match already closed in Milan, Bologna and Naples: in the first case Beppe Sala wins in the first round reaping the fruits of the last legislature, while in the capitals of Emilia and Campania it works very well, especially in Naples, the Pd-5 Star alliance. Flop of the center-right which in addition to Rome remains in the game - but at a disadvantage - only in Turin, even if it confirms the presidency of the Calabria Region.
