The outgoing mayor intervenes again on the receipt scandal. He underlines that he is not under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office. And on his resignation he says: “Shameful complaints of M5S and FdI. I thought and I think that I have 20 days to make appropriate reflections and checks ". But the Democratic Party freezes it: "There are no political conditions"

Rome, Marino reflects on resignation: "I'm not under investigation" but the Democratic Party freezes him

The mayor of Rome Ignazio Marino has his say on the receipt case, clarifying during a press conference convened by surprise the day after his deposition in the Prosecutor's Office what he believes are the most important points of the matter.

«I resigned because I have respect for the judicial authority and I wished to present myself to it as a resigner to explain the facts relating to the complaints. I am not registered in the register of suspects, I entered the prosecutor's office as a person informed about the facts. And so I left the power of attorney. I'm not under investigation".

The outgoing mayor repeats it several times, also throwing some barbs at the 5 Star Movement and at the Brothers of Italy, guilty of having presented two "shameful" complaints, written either by bad faith or ignorant people.

During the press conference, Marino specified that he had not never used public money for private purposes. Indeed, during an institutional meeting held in New York, he would have paid for the hotel himself, avoiding burdening Roman finances.

Finally, on the resignation Marino did not rule out a possible step backwards. On the basis of the provisions of the law, he will in fact have until November 2 to reconsider and return to the Capitol and as of today "appropriate reflections and checks" would be underway. The checks mainly concern the numbers in the City Council. Even if he decides to retrace his steps, the outgoing mayor currently would not have the support of the centre-left majority. But in the evening the Pd freezes it: "There are no political conditions to move forward," said the commissioner of the Roman Pd, Matteo Orfini. And the Marino case closes.
