Rome, the MIC Card to enter the museums of the capital

From July 5th, the Roman artistic culture starts the revolution: the MIC Card has been introduced which, at a cost of 12 euros and for 4 months, allows access to the Museums in the Municipality of Rome, the museum system of the capital, to residents, to temporarily domiciled who are those who have been temporarily residing in Rome for at least 8 months and require, for a maximum of a further XNUMX months, enrollment in the Temporary Population File at the Change of Residence Office of the Municipality to which the students of Roman universities belong.

Residents of Rome under the age of 18 have the right to free access to the Museums in the Municipality. MIC card holders are entitled to a 10% discount in the cafés of the Museums in the Municipality and in their bookshops.

The new card, nominative and renewable, allows the holders to present themselves, equipped with an identification document, at the museum entrance without going through the via - the ticket office -, a modern game of Monopoly where it is not the richest who wins, but whoever visits more monuments.

The MIC Card can be purchased in the main Civic Museums, Tourist Infopoints (Termini, Nazionale, Minghetti, Sonnino, Fori Imperiali, Navona, Castel Sant'Angelo, Ciampino, Fiumicino) or online (at the price of €5,00 + €1,00 and to be collected at the Civic Museums or Tourist Infopoints).

The Museums in the Municipality that are free only for MIC card holders are: Musei Capitolini, Centrale Montemartini, Trajan's Market, Museum of the Imperial Forums, Gallery of Modern Art, Museum of Rome in Trastevere, Museums of Villa Torlonia, Civic Museum of Zoology, finally, the Ara Pacis Museum and the Museum of Rome, for which the exhibition spaces that require separate ticketing are excluded.

On the other hand, admission is free for anyone, regardless of possession of the MIC, access to the following Museums in the Municipality: Museum of Ancient Sculpture Giovanni Barracco, Museum of the Walls, Museum of Casal de' Pazzi, Villa di Massenzio, Museum of the Republic Roman and of Garibaldi's memory, the Napoleonic Museum, the Pietro Canonica Museum at Villa Borghese, the Alberto Moravia House Museum and the Carlo Bilotti Orangery Museum at Villa Borghese.

It is no longer necessary to wait for the first Sunday of each month to access the great Roman cultural sites to live on bread and culture.
