Rome, the Totti case overshadows the 5-0 win over Palermo and only equal for Lazio

The clamorous split between Spalletti and Totti clouds the Giallorossi's manita at Palermo: 5-0 with braces from Dzeko and Salah and goals from Keita – Today the coach will try to mend the wound but the divorce seems inevitable – Almost the entire Olimpico with the champion – Frosinone stops Lazio on a 0-0 score: goodbye to Europe's dreams

Rome, the Totti case overshadows the 5-0 win over Palermo and only equal for Lazio

In the sign of 5. Like the goals scored against Palermo but above all like the consecutive victories in the championship, which are worth a very serious candidacy for third place. At Roma, there would be many reasons to smile: the game rediscovered, the points raining down with an unthinkable frequency just a month ago, the goals from Dzeko and Salah, a physical condition finally at the top. Yet yellow and red Monday, if not ruined, is at least disturbed by the Totti case, impossible to underestimate in any square, let alone in a hot one like the Roma one.

The facts are well known: the Captain didn't like Spalletti's treatment and expressed his disagreement with a fiery interview, the coach got furious and pushed him away from the Trigoria retreat. The break is almost total and that almost, given the weight of the character in question, must be set by default. However, there will hardly still be a Roma-Totti combination, despite the fact that the Olimpico has sided with its captain in large majority.

“There are roles to respect, I was forced to put order in the group – explained Spalletti. – He is a great champion and he deserves respect but this goes for everyone, otherwise everyone would feel entitled to say what he wants when he wants. However it is something that has already passed, he will return to train with us as early as tomorrow (today for the reader, ed) ”. The attempt to minimize, however, does not erase what happened: the impression, in fact, is that the parties will try to coexist civilly until May, after which, when the contract expires, everyone will go his way.

A sensational case, which overshadowed last night's splendid 5-0. A very respectable pokerissimo, although Palermo proved to be adversaries in disarray: Zamparini, guilty of having changed 6 coaches (!), will ring his ears but the rosanero crisis is above all his fault. The rebirth of Roma, on the other hand, is all due to Spalletti, who is very good at revitalizing players like Dzeko and Salah, now distant relatives of the "stand-ins" seen with Garcia.

The Bosnian, after missing an incredible goal, made up for it with a brace like a real bomber (30', 89'), the Egyptian did the same, giving his audience the pearl of the evening: if the goal in the 60th minute was it was normal administration so it wasn't for the one scored 2' later, a real masterpiece that was worth the tribute of the entire Olimpico. Also in the middle was Keita's goal (50') and Strootman's return to the field, able again and enlisted after 13 months in the pits.

Definitely less crackling (in every sense) on Sunday for Lazio, now resigned to a supporting championship. Pioli's comeback intentions were shattered in the Matusa draw, a gray 0-0 which instead suits Frosinone, now only 2 points behind Sampdoria fourth from last (and on Sunday, in Marassi, there will be a direct clash).

“For what we have in mind, we don't need draws, so we can't make up positions – admitted the Biancoceleste coach. – We didn't play a good game, we lacked pace and precision. Draws are of no use to us, at this rate ours will be a mediocre championship”. One can't smile even when she wins, the other has now accessed the countdown to finish this championship as soon as possible. In short, the capital does not seem to find peace.
