Rome, elections: Calenda is a candidate and asks for Pd support

Former Minister of Economic Development and leader of Action, Carlo Calenda, broke the delay and decided to apply for the leadership of Rome in the upcoming spring municipal elections. Calenda, which is already supported by Italy Viva and + Europe, will ask for the support of the Pd and the secretary Nicola Zingaretti seems in favour, even if he appeals to the primaries.

The polls commissioned by Calenda say that in the centre-left he is the strongest, on condition that he runs with a coalition that includes the Democratic Party and other reformist forces. As you know, Calenda does not like the Five Stars, who for now are still oriented towards supporting Virginia Raggi, despite internal disagreements and despite Raggi's unsuccessful experience as mayor of Rome.

According to polls, only Giorgia Meloni could beat Calenda in the elections, but for now the leader of the Brothers of Italy does not seem willing to take the field in the capital.

The real problem for Calenda will be understanding what will happen if it gets to the ballot: will he ask for the votes of the Five Stars even if he has always hated them? And will Grillini voters support the leader of Azione even if he has always opposed them, or will they prefer to abstain, thus favoring the right? But these doubts are far away for now.
