Rome: ecological Sunday 24 March and #Vialibera for bikes

Sunday 24 March in Rome it will be possible to circulate almost all day on foot or by bike. Here comes the fifth (and last) ecological Sunday and the third edition of #Vialibera.

Traffic stop and day dedicated to cyclists and pedestrians. Sunday 24 March in Rome, last appointment with the ecological Sundays and with the total ban on circulation which will coincide with the return of #greenlight: a 15 km circuit dedicated to pedestrians and cyclists involving the closure of some roads.

TRAFFIC BLOCK 

La fifth ecological Sunday provides for the total ban on the circulation of vehicles equipped with combustion engines in the Ztl "Green Band". The limitation is also extended to Euro 6 compression ignition (diesel) vehicles. Traffic will be stopped from 7.30 12.30 to and from the 16.30 20.30.

Sul site of the town all are listed the categories that will be able to circulate including electric and hybrid vehicles, those running on LPG, methane and bi-fuel vehicles. Also outside the block are Euro 6 petrol cars, Euro 4 and later 3-stroke motorcycles, Euro 2 and later 4-stroke 2-wheel mopeds, vehicles with a disabled badge, car sharing and car pooling vehicles.

La The third edition of the event includes a cycle-pedestrian circuit of 15 kilometers from 10 to 18. It will be a day dedicated to pedestrians and cyclists

#Vialibera is already scheduled in other dates: 28 April, 12 May and 16 June 2019. From next September, the Capitol will extend the initiative in the European Week of Sustainable Mobility.

The cycle and pedestrian network will cross the whole city. The affected roads will be 16 in total: via Cola di Rienzo, via Tiburtina (San Lorenzo), via dei Fori Imperiali and Largo Corrado Ricci, via del Corso, via XX Settembre, piazza Venezia, viale Manzoni, via Labicana and via Veneto.

“After the success of the first two editions, we are renewing an important initiative that we want to make a fixed appointment for citizens to bequeath to the Capital. – declares the mayor Virginia Rages – An opportunity to experience the city and the street in a sustainable way, involving all the realities of the territory, associations and committees, businesses and institutional entities, such as museums, libraries and schools located along the route”.
