Rome, Cinema America: films return to the streets

The coronavirus doesn't stop the kids from Cinema America who are indeed among the first to announce the restart.

"There will be a cinema in the square”. Thus begin the note and the post on Facebook, with which Valerio Carocci, president of the Piccolo America association, confirms the start of the summer season of the "Il Cinema in Piazza" event. Evenings that all of Rome has become fond of also due to the numerous vicissitudes that the youngsters have had to overcome in the past years to guarantee the survival of a cultural event, now in its sixth edition, which enriches the summer life of the capital, in the center as in outskirts.

As for 2019, the screenings will be totally free and will be held in three different locations: in Piazza San Cosimato in Trastevere, in the Cervelletta park and in the Tourist Port of Ostia. There are also dates. It begins on July 3 and ends on August 30. As in the past, the project will have the patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, the Lazio Region and Rome Capital. From this year, "Il Cinema in Piazza" will take place under the high patronage of the European Parliament.

“We have been working in silence for weeks to study our possibilities of returning, in total safety, serenity and social dignity to the territories. And we want to do it through our projections”, explains Carocci who then reassures about the scrupulous compliance with all the safety and distancing rules established by the government: “Our goal is to oppose social distancing by maintaining physical distancing".

The Cinema is therefore back in the square, giving a chance for recreation to the many families who will stay in Rome for work, economic difficulties, or simply because moving around in the summer of the coronavirus could become a business.

"We want to accompany people in this suspended time towards a perspective of cultural rebirth and recovery of social and aggregative life. Precisely for this reason we have chosen to carry out our initiative with free admission from 3 July to 30 August, i.e. postponing it by a month. Rome in August will never have been so beautiful.Carocci concludes.
