Rome, CDP builds new Enel offices in the former Mint

Enel has leased the historic building in Piazza Verdi in Rome for 24 years, which was the headquarters of the Istituto Poligrafico and Zecca dello Stato. The group signed the lease agreement with Residenziale Immobiliare, a company of the CDP Group, which owns the property. The agreement provides for CDP to build a new operational headquarters for Enel on an area of approximately 30 square meters inside the building.

The collaboration between Cdp and Enel will lead to the definitive recovery of the property, which has already begun with the construction of a 4-storey underground car park for 285 parking spaces and the restoration of the facades. The operation will continue with the construction of the offices until the definitive completion expected in 2022, with an investment by CDP that for the entire building will be over 120 million euros.

The former Poligrafico is in Piazza Verdi, in the Parioli-Pinciano residential district, between the two large public parks of Villa Ada to the north and Villa Borghese to the south. Built in 1914 as the headquarters of the Istituto Poligrafico and Zecca dello Stato, it is considered one of the most representative buildings of Art Nouveau architecture in Rome. The property occupies an entire block of approximately 17 square meters and is spread over 7 floors above ground for a gross surface area of approximately 72 square metres.

Four years ago, Cdp had found an agreement with Rosewood Hotels and Resorts International Limited, controlled by New World China Land, for the construction in the former headquarters of the Mint of a luxury hotel with 200 rooms, a convention center, restaurants, a swimming pool, a spa and even a hundred private residences. This project is also going ahead, in parallel with that of Enel.
