Rome, Raggi's budget rejected. Chaos in the classroom: "It's the first time in history"

OREF, or the Campidoglio's economic-financial auditing body, "has found that the balanced budget has been maintained in compliance with the rebalancing plan of Roma Capitale - reads the opinion - and, while positively evaluating the budgetary policy inspired to the principles of prudence", deems "the public finance spaces necessary to respect the financial equilibrium are not sufficient in relation to the needs that could arise with respect to the recognition of off-balance-sheet debts, the potential liabilities however present and all the other critical issues highlighted in the present opinion and expresses an unfavorable opinion on the proposal to approve the 2017-2019 budget and related annexes".

For the budget proposed by the Raggi council, therefore, the rejection by the auditors arrives, a circumstance, as the oppositions have not failed to recall, "never happened in history". The negative opinion on the 2017-2019 forecast document now risks delaying the approval of the budget of the Municipality of Rome, so much so that the president of the Capitoline Assembly Marcello De Vito interrupted today's session and canceled tomorrow's session , Wednesday 21 December.

"Oref's opinion has been filed and it is not favourable - the president of the Capitoline assembly Marcello De Vito said in the council - I inform my colleagues that by decision of the conference of group leaders today's session has been canceled and tomorrow's session canceled ”, said De Vito, reopening the session after a 4-hour stop and suspending it again. In the words of the group leader Michela Di Biase, the Democratic Party defines the opinion of Oref as "a sensational rejection" for the Raggi junta. “It had never happened. Now bring the budget debate back to the House and make ends meet. The big weaving they said on the balance sheet didn't exist, they'll get back to work in a short time,” said Di Biase. “The Oref opinion is 60 pages, we had it a little while ago and we have to study it. Basically – she concluded – the budget does not respect the spaces of the Stability Pact ".
