On November 19, the season of cakes opens in Rome ecological Sundays. Total blockage of traffic in the green belt and stop traffic also extended to Euro 6 diesel vehicles. The initiative, as per tradition, aims to reduce polluting emissions and raise awareness among the population on the subject of air quality and energy sources.

ROME, THE TIMES OF THE BLOCK

On the basis of the provisions of the Capitoline council, the ban on the circulation of vehicles within the areas identified in the green band of the General Urban Traffic Plan (Pgtu) will have a total duration of nine hours. Going into detail, cars and motorbikes cannot circulate in the following time slots:

  • from 7.30 to 12.30,
  • from the 16.30 20.30.

ROME: WHAT IS THE GREEN BAND?

The green band identified in the Pgtu is a large area of ​​the capital that covers a large part of the territory located within the Grande Raccordo Anulare. Its establishment is due precisely to the desire to reduce pollution. According to what can be read on the website of the Municipality of Rome “its new perimeter, smaller than the Grande Raccordo Anulare, allows access to the park and ride parks and public transport terminus. In this way the use of alternative means to the car is facilitated and circulation is allowed in some neighborhoods adjacent to the ring road”. ROME: FINES FOR THOSE WHO BREACH THE RULES

In order to allow citizens to move from one part of the city to another, on Sunday 19 November they will be the means of local public transport have been strengthenedespecially during off-hours. The upgrade will therefore concern buses, subways and trains.

Anyone who will be caught by the local police circulating despite the ban will receive a fine of 105 euros.

ROME: TRAFFIC BLOCK SUNDAY 19 NOVEMBER: WHO CAN TRAVEL

They will be able to circulate in the green band despite the ban, electric and hybrid vehicles; LPG vehicles, methane vehicles, "bi-fuel" vehicles. Euro 6 petrol cars are also allowed to circulate.

Speaking instead of two wheels, circulation will be allowed to:

  • 4-stroke motorcycle Euro 3 and later,
  • 2-wheel 4-stroke mopeds Euro 2 and later.

Green light also for vehicles with disabled badges, for vehicles of the car sharing service.

ROME: ALL ECOLOGICAL SUNDAYS

The Municipality has fixed a total of four ecological Sundays. After November 19, the shutdown has been scheduled for:

  • Sunday 17 December 2017,
  • Sunday 21 January 2018,
  • Sunday 11 February 2018.
