Ignazio Marino is the new mayor of Rome. The Instant polls say it but above all the Alemanno committee recognizes it half an hour after the polls close.

The instant polls, broadcast by the broadcaster La7, give the winning democratic exponent with 60,5% of the preferences over the outgoing mayor, Gianni Alemanno. The outgoing mayor has already publicly acknowledged his opponent's victory through his committee.

However, the turnout in Rome as in all of Italy was low: according to data released by the Viminale at 22 pm yesterday, it was 33,87% on the national territory, a decrease compared to 42,38% in the first round. In Rome, the turnout was 32,47% (at 22pm last night) against 38,29% in the first round. Relative to 90% of the sections, the turnout in the capital at 15 pm should have risen to 45%.
