Rome: tussle in the Campidoglio over the Muraro case

Very heated spirits today in the Campidoglio where, during a meeting of the Aula Giulio Cesare meeting for the budget, a fight came close between the advisers of the 5 Star Movement and those of the Democratic Party. Reason for the dispute: the resignation of the Councilor for the Environment Paola Muraro following the receipt of the guarantee notice from the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office for "trafficking of waste".

At the opening of the session, the PD councilors asked for clarifications on the issue and on the repercussions concerning Ama, the subsidiary that deals with waste management. However, the president of the grillino Marcello De Vito judged the request inadmissible, causing the wrath of the Democrats present in the Chamber who displayed protest signs with the words: «At night he makes videos, during the day he sleeps. Rays in the Chamber ».

Immediately afterwards, the PD councilor Orlando Corsetti left his seat, for position yourself on that of Mayor Raggi (absent). A gesture that caused the wrath of the grillini, causing a real dispute that almost resulted in a fight.

Between one quarrel and another, the councilors also found time to deal with the budget. The leader of the PD Di Biase also asked for clarifications on this: “In the budget document signed by the Movimento 5 stelle, almost 2 million euros are allocated to the mayor's office for transfers to families. It is not clear - continued the democratic representative - with which administrative act these powers are assigned to the mayor? And a further 650 euros are assigned to the presidency of the Capitoline assembly for various professional services. While important funds for social, environmental and urban maintenance are being cut, the close collaboration offices of the mayor and president de vito obtain a substantial increase in funds. What does the 5 Star Movement do? Are we perhaps dealing with a maneuver in the classroom in disguise?”.

In the meantime, after the resignation of commissioner Muraro, Virginia Raggi could soon find herself facing another significant problem. According to press rumors, Stefano Bina, director general of the AMA, would be thinking of leaving his post, just three months after his appointment. Reason? the changes in the organizational chart of the municipalized capital decided by the new sole administrator Antonella Giglio and carried forward without taking into account her observations.
