Rome, still transport chaos: "white strike" on the metro and buses stop on Friday

Still inconvenience on Roman public transport. For some days the so-called "white strike" it is conspicuously slowing down the service, especially on the A and B underground lines, arousing the ire of users and also the first sanctions. And for Friday promises to be a new strike for buses and trams. one-off service interruptions are coming

Penalties are also coming on the intermittent interruptions of the service, after the mayor Ignatius Marino denounced that 40% of train drivers have refused these days to use the electronic badge (in the past it would have been said to "stamp the time card"). To react to this situation, which is creating some slowdowns even on surface vehicles, Atac is also thinking of sensational solutions such as replacement with colleagues acquired from other companies, for example from Railways, while the Prefect was also informed of the emergency. "If the investigations confirm unlawful behavior - specified Atac in a note - the company is ready to proceed denouncing those responsible for interruption of public service".

The crux is always the known one: Atac workers are opposing the operation started by the company to increase the efficiency of the service, bringing the working hours from 700 to 950 per year (the same worked by a machinist from Naples, and in any case lower than those of his colleagues in Milan), also introducing the obligation to swipe badges at the beginning and end of the shift. Already last Friday the two metro lines, as well as the Rome-Lido, had suffered similar hardships forcing Atac to activate "a careful monitoring to assess whether phenomena related to individual initiatives are underway as already noted on Wednesday 1 July, due to the 'application also to the operating personnel of the automatic attendance recording system, which is already in use for the rest of the company's personnel”.

Individual initiatives have in fact continued until today, and the protest shows no sign of abating: for Friday July 10 in fact it has already been proclaimed one strike (this time real) of public transport for 4 hours, only for the RomaTpl network, called by the trade union union SUL-CT. From 8,30 to 12,30 journeys on some bus and tram lines in the capital are at risk (the list on the ATAC site). Regular service on the Atac, Cotral and Trenitalia networks.
