London stake: 2 Italians also missing

The toll of the London fire is getting worse. The fire that engulfed the skyscraper "Grenfell Tower" in just six minutes on Wednesday caused 12 deaths. It is not yet clear how many are missing, but there are also two Italians among them. They are Gloria Trevisan and Marco Gottardi, both from the Veneto: 27 and 28 years old, architects, in the British capital since last March, residing in an apartment on the 23rd and penultimate floor of the London skyscraper that burned down.

“We were on the phone with the boys until the last moment, then they told us that the apartment was full of smoke and communications went down. Let's just hope for a miracle – Giannino Gottardi, Marco's father, architect of San Stimo di Livenza (Venice) told Ansa – We were woken up at 3.45 in the night by Gloria's mother who had been alarmed by her daughter. We immediately got in touch with Marco, who minimized what had happened. I think he did this to reassure Gloria and my wife too. There were a series of frantic phone calls, in which he continued to assure us that help was on the way and that the situation could be resolved. At 4.07 there was the last dramatic contact in which he informed us that their apartment was invaded by smoke and that the situation was becoming an emergency. Since that moment they have had no more contact and the telephone has no longer been reachable”.
