Toyota revolution: goodbye diesel, focus on hybrid and electric

Toyota says goodbye to diesel, at least for its passenger car models. Which means that in addition to Aygo, C-HR and the Prius "family", also Yaris, Auris and Rav4 will no longer be available with diesel engines. The revolution started on 1 January and is consistent with Toyota's decision to focus above all on hybrid engines, not to mention that in the reference sectors, the medium-small ones, diesel sales for Toyota had contracted sharply in recent years, become in fact completely marginal.

No longer having diesel versions in the price list is part of Toyota Italia's desire to focus more and more on the electrification of its range of cars, at the basis of the already announced objective of to sell more than 2030 million electrified cars annually by 5,5, including 1 million electric vehicles. It should be noted that 2017 which has just ended confirmed record results for the hybrid which is increasingly proving to be the inevitable choice: +71% compared to 2016. To date, 180.000 Italians have chosen the hybrid signed by Toyota and Lexus which now represents over 60% of the total sales of the Japanese group.
