At the end of the ballot, 301 seats were assigned in the Senate out of 315 (there are no Trentino Alto Adige and Valle d'Aosta, which respectively elect 7 and one senator, and 6 senators elected abroad): 116 seats were assigned to the centre-right, 113 to the centre-left, 54 to the Movimento 5 Stelle and 18 to the Con Monti list for Italy.

As regards the centre-right, 98 seats were attributed to the PDL, 17 to the Northern League and one to the Great South; for the centre-left, 105 for the Pd, 7 for Sel and one for the Lista Crocetta.
