Asset management, outflows of €11,3 billion in 2012

According to the preliminary data released by Assogestioni, the asset management industry in Italy is about to end 2012 with net outflows of €11,3 billion. A heavy liability, even if an improvement compared to the redemptions for 41 billion of the previous year.

The result was mainly affected by outflows from portfolio management, which reached 14,5 billion euro, while open-ended funds closed 2012 with positive inflows of 1,67 billion, thanks above all to the success of the products " target data”, products which, according to the director of Assogestioni's research office, “combine an interesting investment proposal with a particularly incentive method of remunerating the distribution networks”.

In December the negative net inflows reached 4,34 billion euro (from assets of 852 million in November). Collective management assets dropped to 233 million against 1,55 billion in November. A figure that clearly cannot offset the 4,57 billion euros of redemptions in portfolio management.
