Rio: Pirelli illuminates Christ with the tricolor, Renzi turns on the light

Pirelli, on the occasion of the visit of the President of the Council of Ministers Matteo Renzi, and in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro, celebrated the strong bond that unites Brazil and Italy by illuminating the monument of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado with the tricolor .

President Matteo Renzi kicked off the event by activating the green, white and red lighting of Brazil's most famous monument, in the presence of the Archbishop of Rio de Janeiro, Cardinal Orani Tempesta; by the Italian Ambassador in Brazil, Antonio Bernardini; by the Consul General of Italy in Rio de Janeiro, Riccardo Battisti; the Executive Vice President and CEO of Pirelli, Marco Tronchetti Provera; the Executive Chairman of Pirelli in Latin America, Paolo Dal Pino and the Chairman of CONI, Giovanni Malago`.

Pirelli, present in Brazil for 87 years and market leader, has been supporting the conservation and maintenance of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado, as well as the social projects connected to it since 2014. After having financed the restoration of the monument two years ago following of the damage suffered by some lightning strikes, this year, confirming the link with Brazil and with the city of Rio de Janeiro, Pirelli participated in the project to make the area where Christ the Redeemer stands safe and will ensure its own contribution to its constant maintenance.

Standing out among the projects is www.bracosabertos.com, the digital platform recently launched by Pirelli with the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro which has the aim of enhancing and sharing the countless gestures, projects and actions carried out spontaneously by the Brazilian people in favor of own community. Through the website you have the opportunity to learn about the stories of individual Brazilians who dedicate themselves to others, through videos and stories, as well as to admire the spectacular panorama of Rio de Janeiro seen from the peak of Corcovado. A window that can be reached from a computer or smartphone anywhere in the world. For the first time, thanks to Pirelli, the experience includes an exclusive virtual visit inside the monument, 360° views of the city and a timelapse of the landscape throughout the 24 hours of the day.
