Una Olympic Sunday so it is to be framed. In one fell swoop Italy won two gold medals at the Rio Olympics. The first was conquered by the very young Fabio Basile, absolute champion of men's judo. The second brought home Daniele Garozzo in foil.

But that's not all. Odette Giuffrida also thought of enriching the medal collection, who won the silver medal in female judo. And then the deserved silver of the Cagnotto-Dallapè couple in diving: it is the first time for women in the history of Olympic diving.

In the afternoon Isa Longo Borghini had conquered the bronze in the women's road cycling race. And even before that, the swimmer Gabriele Detti (bronze medal) in the 400m freestyle and Rossella Fiamingo (silver) in the epee had done well. On balance, so far there are already 7 Italian medals and the party promises to continue to the delight of Italian sportsmen.
