Renewal of chemical contract: agreement signed for 170.000 workers

Here comes the white smoke after a long push and pull on renewal of the contract in the chemical-pharmaceutical sector. This morning, at 9, after a whole night of negotiations, the Filctem-Cgil, Femca-Cisl, Uiltec-Uil unions and the entrepreneurs' associations Federchimica and Farmindustria signed the hypothesis of an agreement for the renewal two months in advance compared to the natural expiry of the current contract which is set for December 31st of this year.

The agreement signed between trade unions and business associations have found an agreement for a three-year agreement 2016-2018 with an average increase on the minimum of 90 euros (category D1). The increase will be distributed in three phases: the first tranche of 40 euros from 1 January 2017, the second part of 35 euros from 1 January 2018; the third and last tranche of 15 euros from 1 December 2018.
Furthermore, in today's agreement it was established that instead of the contractual increase foreseen for this month in the current ccnl of chemists an EDR (Distinguished Element of Remuneration) of the same amount will be paid. This amount - let the unions know - will be disbursed until 31 December 2016, to then cease definitively.

Returning to new chemists contract it must be added that the annual verification of the minimums for any deviations from inflation has been introduced. In fact, starting from 2017, in June of each year, the difference in inflation relating to the previous year will be identified between the Istat final balance and the forecast used in the renewal phase.

"Since we were aware that we represented the highest point of bargaining in the country, we accepted (and won) the bet - satisfied Emilio Miceli, Angelo Colombini, Paolo Pirani, respectively general secretaries of Filctem-Cgil, Femca-Cisl, Uiltec - Uil – to make the contract in a short time. A sign of responsibility - the union leaders continue - which is extremely useful for reopening the confederation table and the other category tables, which the unions and chemical and pharmaceutical companies offer to the country; a concrete answer in defense of the income of workers in the sector, of contractual welfare, of work performance in a sector that has been able to give innovative answers also through the renewal of contracts".

The trade unions let it be known that the hypothetical agreement entered into with Federchimica and Farmindustria will be submitted for approval by the workers' assemblies which will end by November 2015. The agreement regards as many as 171 workers employed in almost 3000 companies, 90% of which are small and medium.

In this tweet from the general secretary of Uiltec, here is the document with the signatures of the three union secretaries and the representatives of Federchimica and Farmaindustria.
