Renewables, Sorgenia acquires Universal Sun

New solutions are on the way for Italian SMEs and families that integrate digital, energy efficiency and renewable self-production.

Renewables, Sorgenia acquires Universal Sun

Sorgenia acquires control of Universal Sun, a Bergamo-based company accredited as an Energy Service Company (ESCo) and active for many years in the field of renewable sources and energy efficiency with a high technological content. Thanks to this acquisition, the Italian digital energy company is positioned as the partner for those who want to ride the evolution of the energy market towards a future in which companies and consumers become protagonists in self-production and in the responsible and intelligent use of energy.

“The operation is part of Sorgenia's industrial growth plan, which sees renewables and energy efficiency as two strategic development axes. We have in common with Universal Sun the desire to grow our country through the use of cutting-edge technologies. This acquisition will allow us to bring to the business world the equivalent of what we have already been offering to households and VAT numbers for two years: the possibility of using 100% renewable energy and saving on energy bills, together with digital solutions that make our relationship with energy is much simpler”, he said Gianfilippo Mancini, CEO of Sorgenia.

Universal Sun will be led and shared by Angelica Agosta, who has been responsible for the company's growth since 2010 together with a young group of engineers and professionals. The company operates on a national scale and is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises, large-scale distribution, the tertiary sector, farms and condominiums.

In distributed production from renewable sources, Universal Sun has already built more than 100 industrial photovoltaic plants on the roof and dozens of plants in other technologies: cogeneration, industrial heat pumps, heat recovery aimed at industrial heating and mini-wind power. Thus it exceeded 30 MW of installed power and is still managed through maintenance contracts.

In energy efficiency, Universal Sun operates from careful energy diagnoses and is active in co-trigeneration, ORC (industrial heat recovery for energy production), heating and lighting systems. For the lower consumption segments, the company has developed a proprietary micro-cogeneration technology, which stands out for its high efficiency, low need for maintenance and minimum bulk.
