Reforms: final vote in the Chamber on Wednesday

The decisive week for constitutional reforms begins today. Since this morning at 11 the Chamber has scheduled the general discussion on the Boschi bill. This is the last reading, the sixth, by Parliament of the reform which should therefore be definitively approved. Then, in the autumn, the text will be submitted to a confirmatory referendum.

"Today is a historic day for constitutional reforms", Prime Minister Matteo Renzi wrote on Twitter, who promised to speak in the Chamber at 18 pm to "answer point by point the doubts about the reform".

Yesterday on Tg5 Renzi said: "What excites me and almost moves me is that we are at the end of the constitutional reform process, it took us six readings, two years, after all the others had failed, I believe that this reform is a gigantic step forward for Italy”. A confirmation, therefore, of the importance that this reform has for the prime minister and for the entire government.

The final vote of the Chamber on the constitutional reforms is possible starting tomorrow. But the obstructionism of the M5S, with almost all of its deputies registered to speak, could postpone the vote to Wednesday.

The 5 Stars who first appealed to the head of state, then to the presidents of the chambers, asking to postpone the approval of the constitutional reform until after the vote on the no-confidence motions, scheduled for April 19 in the Senate. But for Renzi the roadmap is already set: by Wednesday 13 he will close on the reforms.
