Senate reform: Pd regroups, 82 million amendments from Calderoli

The Democratic Party regroups on the amendments to the Constitution, while a new attempt at obstructionism arrives from the League. The majority presented only three amendments to the reform of the Charter: the modification proposals were signed by the president of the constitutional affairs commission of the Senate, Anna Finocchiaro. This was announced by the Undersecretary for Reforms, Luciano Pizzetti, explaining that they concern "the functions of the new Senate, article 2 on the composition (or the electivity of senators, ed) and the Consulta (two judges of the Constitutional Court should be chosen by Palazzo Madama, ed.). The knots of Title V and the President of the Republic remain open, which we will deepen in the coming days”.

Roberto Calderoli, on the other hand, presented over 82 million amendments to the constitutional reform (82.730.460 to be exact). The Lega senator explained that he had waited until 8,30 for contact with the majority "but nothing happened and therefore I introduced them". The number of amendments represents a new "record", "from Guinness", which "is always mine" and is "difficult to beat", commented Calderoli.

For its part, Forza Italia presented 1.173 amendments.

Returning to the Democratic Party, the amendment which aims to overcome the obstacle on the electivity of the Senate provides that future senators, with the new constitutional reform under discussion in Palazzo Madama, will be identified "in accordance with the choices expressed by the voters for the candidates directors on the occasion of the renewal of the same bodies, according to the methods established by law".
