Senate reform: opposition withdraws amendments. Renzi summons Pd direction

Calderoli: "The government wants to bypass the commission and go directly to the Chamber because it doesn't have the numbers in the commission and would go under" - Zanda: "It's a political maneuver" - But Renzi accelerates, summons the leadership of the Democratic Party for Monday and wants the vote.

Senate reform: opposition withdraws amendments. Renzi summons Pd direction

All opposition forces have withdrew the amendments to the constitutional reform bill. This was announced in the constitutional affairs commission in the Senate, Forza Italia, Movimento Cinque Stelle, Sel and Lega Nord, which with only Roberto Calderoli had presented over 500 thousand modification proposals. The Northern League senator maintains only 10 substantive amendment proposals, such as those concerning the functions of the new Senate and Title V.

This move by the oppositions came just before the group leaders conference of the Senate, now underway, convened at the request of Luigi Zanda (Pd) who - by the will of Prime Minister Matteo Renzi - aims to skip the commission's exam and land directly in the Chamber on 22 September.

Secondo Calderoli, "the government wants to bypass the commission and go directly to the Chamber because it does not have the numbers in the commission and would go under, but it doesn't even have them in the Chamber". Given the tug of war within the Democratic Party - with the tearing of the minority - the day before a leadership of the Democratic Party was convened off the coast of the Nazarene.
In any case – net of the decisions of the conference of group leaders in the next few hours – 3 amendments still remain in the commission, according to what the Minister for Reforms Maria Elena Boschi reports.

“The withdrawal of the amendments – he comments Zanda – it is only a political maneuver, as was the presentation: maneuver before, maneuver now ”.

Ma Renzi does not stop at reforms and has set a meeting of the government for Monday direction of the Democratic Party determined to ask for a vote and a clear mandate. The meeting convened by the secretary will therefore be held on the eve of the Boschi bill arriving in the Chamber, given that the party of Largo del Nazareno should ask the Senate group leaders' conference today for the scheduling of the reforms for Tuesday.

It is not excluded that in the next few hours there may also be an assembly of the Pd group of Palazzo Madama, chaired by Anna Finocchiaro, for a further comparison between the two souls of the party. The leaders of the Democratic Party are still aiming for an agreement on the so-called 'regional price list' with the minority of the party.
