Senate reform at the finish line and farewell to the primaries for Rome

Matteo Renzi celebrates the reform of the Senate and prepares to close the primaries in Rome for the post-Marino.

The constitutional reform of the Senate, the most delicate political passage of the Premier's autumn, will arrive at Palazzo Madama a day in advance: it will be approved on Tuesday and then move on to the new examination by the Chamber in the fourth parliamentary reading. The articles have all been approved and the only thing missing is the final vote on the reform. And Renzi on Unity does not hide his joy: “The majority who supported the reforms under the leadership of the Democratic Party – he commented – have created a masterpiece. For months they said there were no numbers and in the end we proved that the opposite was true, even passing several secret ballots. There's no denying: this legislature is the good one, the reforms are finally being made. And it is no coincidence that Italy is restarting. It's just the right time”.

Now Renzi is preparing to take the very prickly by the horns case of Rome after the disaster of Mayor Marino, who tries to resist and has postponed his resignation until the 12th in the illusion of a Giunta Bis, pushed by Sel. Renzi is convinced that Rome is not lost for the Democratic Party and that in three months it can be reassembled, provided choose the right candidate. Renzi is determined to choose it himself, by archiving the misunderstanding of the primaries which have no raison d'être for the choice of administrators and which above all - in the absence of clear rules establishing who can vote in the primaries and who can't - have often led to shocking and completely left-leaning results, such as the Marino candidacy or the by De Magistris in Naples or by Casson in Venice. Only the Bersan minority defends them.

"In Rome we solved a problem – Renzi explains – because the mayor was perceived as such but now we have three months: if we manage to relaunch Rome, we can win”. The Government will do everything to push investments and funding for the upcoming Jubilee.
