Riders: agreement on employment and minimum rights

For the Riders, agreement was found in the majority. The agreement envisages a double track: for cycle messengers employed on a continuous basis, the protection of subordinate work is envisaged, while for those who work on an occasional and discontinuous basis there is a minimum package of mandatory rights.

The main objective of this intervention, the press release explains, "is to stimulate collective bargaining, also in this sector, which will have the task of concretely regulating the figure of the riders". Catalfo says she is "very satisfied" because, she underlines, "finally even these workers will have greater rights and protections".

The news was given by the Minister of Labor Nunzia Catalfo. “The majority found agreement on the riders. The amendment, which will be presented to the so-called Crisis Decree in the Senate, provides for the protection of subordinate work for cyclofactories employed on an ongoing basis, while for those who work on an occasional basis, a minimum package of mandatory rights (ban on piecework, minimum hourly wage connected to the National Collective Labor Agreement, health and safety, social security protection) which can be accompanied by specific regulations through the stipulation of collective agreements".
